Our initiative to partner with Dress for Success is gaining momentum around the country thanks to outstanding BrightView women stepping forward and stepping up! Here’s what’s been happening recently:

Denver: Last month, a team of eight women from Denver’s Development and Design offices spent a Friday volunteering at their local Dress for Success. Volunteers split their time between career counseling, interview prep, clothing organization, and styling of clients for upcoming interviews and new jobs. It was a very fulfilling day empowering women in the Denver community and the team members are looking forward to volunteering again soon.

Mid-Atlantic: Sasha Evans, Senior Recruiter, Mid-Atlantic, (can we call her Sasha Fierce?) is organizing an event where Dress for Success clients can get their hair and make-up done, pick out outfits and receive fashion advice, and participate in uplifting and motivational mentorship – like circuit training for your success. More specifics to come soon.

Philadelphia/New Jersey/New York: Kathy Skalish, Sales Coordinator, Northeast, and Emily Delaney, Landscape Designer, Northeast, are joining forces to start volunteering with the Central New Jersey Dress for Success. In September, they’ll be organizing volunteers to help out with a three-day boutique sale. Look for more exciting news from this power-duo on the GROW Community page on OurBrightview (Intranet).

Southern California: Caroline Weilert, VP of Marketing, and Aiko Strasser, Project Designer, Design Group, attended the DFS WorldWide Empower Breakfast in Los Angeles. The CEO of Dress for Success gave a presentation, followed by a panel of women from corporations who partner with Dress for Success talking about ways they lift up women within their organizations. Dress for Success clients shared their stories of participating in Dress for Success programs, and $15,000 was raised for the organization.

Thank you to all of our wonderful volunteers and committee members for moving this important effort forward!
