Vista & Sun City: Reuniting a family

Posted by
Vista & Sun City Branches — Vista, California & Ruskin, Florida

While the Sun City team was onboarding their new H-2B team members, they discovered that a father and son were separated during the process, with the father going to the Sun City branch in Florida and the son to the Vista branch in California. Once each branch was made aware of the situation, they worked together to find transportation for the son and Vista willingly gave up a visa spot to allow the two to reunite in Florida. It was truly a cross-country team effort which exemplified One BrightView and making sure our team members were taken care of.

The team at Sun City was recently helping to onboard new H-2B team members who arrived for the season, and during those conversations, one of the returning team members, Apolinar Briones, indicated that he had brought his son with him this year, but somewhere during the process, his son was sent to the Vista branch in California. This was his son's first year with BrightView, and Briones really wanted to be with him during the season. Once both teams were made aware of the situation, they had his son, Otzomatl Octavio Briones Gonzalez, sent to Sun City to work the remainder of the season with his father. Jackie Contreras, Market Recruiter, Vanessa Gomez, Branch Administrator, and Terry Mahoney, Branch Manager, were all involved in helping get Gonzalez transportation to Florida, and they also gave up one of their Vista branch visa spots to ensure the father and son were together. Credit also goes to John Cornelius, Martin Padilla, and Arlet Manso at Sun City, along with Elena Stewart. It was truly a cross-country team effort to reunite them, exemplifying One BrightView and making sure our team members are taken care of.
