BrightView has been providing the temporary landscaping services for The Memorial Golf Tournament for the past few years. However, this year was our biggest challenge. Our past Enhancement Managers are no longer with us and, to say the least, we didn't know where to start. Our Enhancement Manager, Jeff Kouri, teamed up with our Branch Administrators Kathryn Mayan and Cindy Cholwich to research our past projects. They quickly provided us with all old invoices and hours used last year, allowing us to put together a solid proposal and close the sale. The next challenge was how to get this much plant material after a late start. The answer came in the form of Lillian Kahrig from our Columbus East branch, who is our local flower expert. Lillian went above and beyond her responsibilities at the East branch and was able to secure all the required annuals and tropical plants on short notice. The question then arose of how to get more than 20 temporary sites spread out over 300 acres of golf course completed in less than five days. Here is where we leaned heavily on our Enhancement Crew Leader, Jerry Rojas, and his prior experience at the tournament. Jerry worked with our second enhancement crew, led by Louis Soto, and ran point on the project, working closely with the tournament's director. He absolutely crushed it! The tournament director commented that the landscaping hasn't looked this good in five years and that he would like to continue our partnership with a three-year contract moving forward. Our internal teamwork focused on the customer, which has rewarded us with not only retention, but profitable growth as well. Great job team One BV!
